Annual Bluegrass, or Poa Annua, is one of the most common varieties of undesirable weed grasses that homeowners encounter on their lawns. In fact, almost every lawn will have some Annual Bluegrass.

Crabgrass

Cranberry Girdler

The Cranberry Girdler is a member of the sod webworm family, commonly found in the northern United States and Canada. It is often misdiagnosed due to its resemblance to a White Grub.

A dog spot is an area on a lawn where pet waste leaves a discolored or brown patch of grass that can be difficult to remove.

Fine Fescue

Fine Fescue is a group of cool-season grasses that are known for their fine leaf texture and shade tolerance. They are often used for turf, ground cover, and erosion control.

Grassy Weeds

Quackgrass, Bentgrass, and some cultivars of Tall Fescue are the three most common weedy grasses that can only be controlled through proper cultural methods.

Gray Leaf Spot

Gray Leaf Spot is a warm season disease that affects primarily St. Augustine grass, Ryegrass and Tall fescue turf. It starts out as lesions on the grass leaves and stems during warm humid weather which grow larger with time, with a tan appearance in the middle surrounded by a brown to purplish margin.

Leatherjackets

Leatherjackets (or European Crane Flies) can inflict serious damage on home lawns by feeding on the root hairs, roots and crowns of grass plants. Damaged areas turn yellow and wilt. Heavy infestations can result in brown patches of dead grass.

Melting Out

Turf affected by Melting Out appears yellowish, thin, and shabby, with irregular patches of dead grass.

Milwaukee Watering Instructions and Information

Nimblewill, also commonly referred to as ”Nimbleweed” or "Wiregrass," is a creeping, invasive grass species known for its ability to invade and choke out native plant species, making it an unwelcome invader in many regions.

Nutsedge

Nutsedge is a type of weed that grows in warm and humid climates. Sedges are difficult to control because they have a deep root system and seeds that can germinate over a long period of time.

Quackgrass

Quackgrass is an invasive, perennial grass species characterized by its creeping rhizomes, which grow underground and send up new shoots. It grows fast and spreads quickly, displacing desirable plants.

Slime Mold

Slime Mold is a fungus-like organism that can appear in lawns and spread quickly, appearing as a thin layer of slimy, paste-like material that covers the leaf blades.

Sod Webworms

Sod Webworms are small, tan-coloured caterpillars that are active during hot, dry weather. They cause damage by eating the blades of grass, leaving brown patches.

White Grubs

White grubs are the larvae of European chafer, Japanese, and May & June beetles. These small, plump, white larvae live beneath the surface of the lawn and voraciously chew on grass roots. They are often found in their signature c-shaped position in the soil.

Wild Proso Millet is a grass species that is native to Central Asia and parts of Europe and is now considered a weed in some areas. It is a hardy plant that is considered undesirable in normal turfgrass.

This spring, is your lawn filled with patches of straw-colored, damaged turf? Your lawn is made up of cultivated plants struggling to grow in a harsh winter climate. Winter conditions can damage your lawn in the following ways.

Yellow Patch

Yellow Patch disease is most prevalent during the late fall, winter and early spring when temperatures are cooler. It can cause your Milwaukee turf to become patchy with the rings of patches that are yellow, light brown, or reddish-brown in color and measure 5 inches to several feet in diameter.
